Yugoslav artist is strikingly giving demonic rush of movement to the Apocalyptic bearers of war, famine, pestilence and death. As with other Yugoslav artists of today, his feeling is strongly anti-militaristic and this hay its impetus to give. Color play is part in the intensity of effect, is spectral gamut ranging from an icy blue to yellow, red, and the sinister purple cloud beneath. The horsemen of the original vision – depicted with so much grandeur by Albrecht Durer (plate 2) – are fittingly described in the more general term “Riders”, in that they seem to bring a modern proliferation of armaments and modern weapons into action against a suffering multitude.

This artist follows a definite aim: to provoke the spectators for some kind of a logical panicky escape, with an influence of the bizarre and accidental things. As an evidence for this vision there are about thirty canvases painted with oil technique, pencils in color, and Indian ink. On his paintings in oil technique, and pencils in color, Vasko Taskovki realizes a plastic connection between the fact experienced visually, but expressed with spirit. On the other hand, he thinks that everything should be present on his painting: the form, the light, the domain of the intelligence and sensitivity, the dynamics and the steadiness, following the scientific geometry that contributes for the complete harmony of the architecture of the painting, but all the time taking care not to paint any real aspect of the things, as I already mentioned.

Here the unusual things are an excuse for a stronger presentation of the possible background or reverse of the technical destroying power (“Weapon of Death”, “Evidence of An Existence”, 1975). The area is full of broken elements of organic or inorganic origin, or in some other occasion, it is transformed into a shocking laboratory of a enormous destruction of everything that is human.

Taskovski is artistic built painting nature, who dedicated his knowledge to a special kind fantasy. In fact Taskovski’s analytic temperament find a very complex climate, where many elements mix among themselves, always in an irreproachable artistic order, with calculated relations which are not secret for Taskovski, but on the are a means to reach the tactic and voluminousness of his complex subject and vision. One of the important themes is horrid following occurrences, which almost as a new kind of Apocalypse, whose messenger – Taskovski, in fact, is not from the hill Patmos. He announces the future of horror, that, let’s hope, will not happen, at least not in near days.
