Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting that speaks. Simonides

Jonathan Robertson

Jonathan Robertson was born in 1947. He trained at the Glasgow School of Art.

Recollections of fisher folk and coastal life in the area where he grew up have provided Robertson with the rich sources of inspiration for his paintings and limited edition prints. He uses his background and remembered tales of the area in his paintings to produce timeless works of art that many people connect with and the selling of which have enabled him to make a career out of his passion.

Jonathan Robertson larger than life paintings are certainly distinctive and attention grabbing. But closer inspection suggests his trade mark thickset characters, often fishermen at work on the shore, are blessed with gentle observational humour, whilst at the same time exuding an earthiness and honesty

The powerful combination of Jonathan Robertson paintings has won him many awards. His paintings can also be found in many public and private art collections.

All Jonathan Robertson limited edition prints from Red Rag Art Gallery have been reviewed by the artist. This guarantees that all prints offered by Red Rag satisfy the high quality and fine art standards set by Jonathan Robertson for prints. Each limited edition print series from the Red Rag British Art Gallery is available for immediate delivery and can be shipped worldwide.
