Karen Azarnia was born and raised in Miami, FL and currently lives and works in Chicago. She received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, and an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2008. Recently, Karen was awarded grants from both the Illinois Arts Council and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. She will be attending an artist residency this coming summer at the Vermont Studio Center.
