Lotsu Manes

"Lotsu Manes’ early recognition came when his entry for the 1996 Shell National Students’ Art Competition was awarded First Prize. A few years ago he has been chosen to become a member of an elite group of restorers in the country. As a senior apprentice for Art Conservation and Restoration Specialists (ACES) in the Philippines, Lotsu must feel privileged to have been given the chance to participate in some of the most challenging tasks of restoring important works by some of the most famous Filipino art “heavyweights”, such as Jose Joya, Carlos ‘Botong’ Francisco, and even the 19-century standout Juan Luna. Manes also participated in a number of recent projects held by Tutok (an “initiative of visual artists formed in 2006”). He has been an active and a core member of the said initiative for the past few years."
