Mira Smerek-Bielecka

Mira (Mirosława) Smerek-Bielecka was born and grew up in Poland. She and her husband, Jerzy Bielecki, are citizens of Olsztyn, the capital of the Warmia-Masuria Province in the northeastern part of the country.

She studied painting in the Department of Fine Arts at the Copernicus University of Toruń, where she gained her degree in 1979 under the supervision of Professor Mieczysław Wisniewski.

Over the years she has exihibited her painting in galleries and at cultural events in her own country and in France, Germany, England, Greece, the United States, Russia, Sweden and Denmark. She is also an organiser of workshops, where painters get together on a campus to form a small working community for a couple of weeks.

She has received several awards and distinctions, and her artwork has been acquired by public institutions and private collectors in a number of countries.
