Since January 2002, Dick Oostra lives and works in Feerwerd, in the province Groningen, the Netherlands.
In the period 1973 tot 1990 he made drawings, etchings and watercolors. Painting in watercolors made way in 1990 for painting with acryllic paint.
Most of his drawings are prepatory studies for an acryllic painting, but are so completely worked out that they also form an independent work of art.
His subjects are landscapes and animals.
His landscapes are inspired mostly by the nothern provinces of the Netherlands, especially in the area around the Wadden Sea, but also France and Ireland.
