Born in 1971 in Kolkata, Dipankar Ray completed his B.V.A. from Govt. College of Art and Craft, Calcutta in 1996 and M.V.A. from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata in 2000. He has participated in various shows in Kolkata and Delhi. He lives and works in Kolkata.
He is graduated from the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata and has a post-graduate degree from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, getting a first class both times. He has won several awards all over India and the Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Culture and Government of India in 1998-2000. He held a solo exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata in 2005 and has taken part in group shows in many galleries including All India Fine Arts & Craft Society (AIFACS), Domus Art Gallery, New Delhi, Right Lines Art Gallery, Bangalore, Easel Art Gallery. Dipankar's paintings are in several collections in India and abroad. He lives and works in Kolkata.
