Born in 1957 in Heerlen (NL) v.d. Winkel studied art at Minerva Academy of Art in Groningen. This artist has a lucid water-colour technique, an ability to capture the effect of light as it illuminates flowers and simple objects with rich colour. Her touch is suggestive, forms often blending into the background. Her subjects are still lifes, interiors, and portraits. Her portraits of children and adults are remarkable both for their likeness and their poetic atmosphere.
