Edward Ulan was born in Ulan-Ude. Finished Repin Central Children school of painting in Kharkov, graduated from Kharkov artistic college and Muhina high artistic school in St. Petersburg.
Painter, monumentalist, graphic painter, writer. Active participant of Moscow avant-garde of the 70-th (20-th century). Organizer of world-famous "World of painting" artistic group. A sensational documentary by Ludmila Solnyshkina, dedicated to the creative work of the group is released in 1987. "Aurora" publishing house issues a revolutionary album of the group. The model of the album makes a great splash at Frankfurt books fair 1988. Russian academy of painting and ministry of culture of the USSR prohibit the release of the album. Publishing house is under repression.
