Norberto Martini (1941-2007)
Florence artist’s paintings represent not only a religious theme, even if he is believer, but the theme which helps us to escape with our fantasy from reality.
This is the world of Martini between sacred and profane, between reality and dream, characterized by festivity and melancholy at one time, with its colours that make his painting alive and so beautiful.
Born in Florence in 1940.
Education:
Studied canto at the Technical Lyric Center of th Teatro Massimo in Palermo.
Martini, who is an opera singer, often repeats th scenography in the genre paintings; in particular in those where his altar boys, with scarlet tunics and white stoles run like undisciplined children during play-time. His vibrating and splashing masterstroke is a technique he found during the research of the right way to express the moving of masses or the concept of escape towards free and large spaces.
