Paul W. McCormack was born in Rahway, New Jersey in 1962. He received his formal art training at DuCret School of the Arts where he later became a faculty member. Sharing his knowledge on the fine art of portraiture, he has also been on the faculties of the New Jersey Center for the Visual Arts, the Somerset Art Association, and the Newark Museum. Paul is currently teaching workshop intensives at notable institutions, including the Andreeva Portrait Academy, the Bay Area Classical Arts Atelier, and the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art. Workshops and classes are also offered in Paul’s private studio located in the Hudson Valley region of New York State.


Displaying equal skill and depth with his works in both oils and watercolors, he has exhibited widely with various establishments; these include the National Arts Club (NYC), the Salmagundi Club (NYC), the American Watercolor Society, the Montclair Arts Museum (NJ), the Noyes Museum (NJ) and the Butler Institute of American Art (OH). Mr. McCormack is also an elected member of the Allied Artists of America, the NJ Watercolor Society and the Hudson Valley Art Association.



Mr. McCormack’s twenty-five years of experience in painting portraits has earned him national recognition as a fine artist. His heartfelt dedication to his art has earned him representation among some of the top portrait artists in the world at “Portraits Inc.” in New York City. In 2001, Paul was invited to join some of the world’s most legendary artists such as Chuck Close, Lucian Freud, David Hockney and Odd Nerdrum in “ Identities: Contemporary Portraiture” at the NJ center for Visual Arts. Paul is also the Executive Director of Programs for the Art Renewal Center where he has been honored as an ARC Living Master.











Throughout the years he has been the recipient of many awards, including;

“First Place in Portraiture”- “The Artists Magazine”, 1998 competition

“The Thomas Moran Memorial Award”- The Salmagundi Club 21st Annual Exhibition, NYC

“The Gold Medal of Honor”- Hudson Valley Art Association 67th Annual Exhibition

“The Paul Puzinas Memorial Award”- Allied Artists of America 81st Annual Exhibition, NYC

“The Ruth Rosenau Silver Medallion”- Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors

Paul resides in the Hudson Valley with his wife and eternal muse Karen, son Daniel, and daughter Abigail Rose. He also shares his home with one slightly deranged yellow lab, an obese black cat, various fish of questionable species, two praying mantids, a vocal alpha-goose, several subordinate ducks, and an overwhelmingly large PEZ dispenser collection.
